This is an excellent example of the fine 7-1/2 x 9-1/2 inch, 124 page heavily illustrated hard cover combat history of the “March, Battle and Victory of an Infantry Division” from München (Munich) in the spring of 1940.
From positions around Völklingen this German Army Division awaited orders for the invasion of France of 1940. By train and foot they moved into the area where the French-Belgian border intersects with Germany for their part in the assault on France.

In a triumph of French international understanding, they threw thousands of black French colonial troops as canon fodder against a highly motivated German Division. French resistance collapsed quickly and complete surrender followed a few days later.
German General Theodor Endres who commanded the division was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross (there is a full-page photo of the ceremony) in Munich when the outfit returned to Germany.

Von der Saar bis an die Mosel (Between the Saar and Mosel Rivers) was published in 1942 by the Zentralverlag der NSDAP Franz Eher Nachfolger in München and in keeping with basic German wartime security the division involved in NOT named.

It was the Third Infantry Division, a Landwehr Division from Munich. Thus, the twin towers of the Frauenkirche in the emblem of the unit on the front cover of this book.

The division was subsequently wiped out in Lithuania in September 1944 and surviving personnel was absorbed into 212 Volks-Grenadier Division.

Very good condition, no odor.
