This is a very good original example of the extremely rare magazine DIE REICHSHAUPTSTADT (The National Capital), the official tourist publication of the Foreigner Service of the Berlin Traffic Union. Distributed to Berlin hotels, railway stations and tourist attractions, the 8 x 9-1/4 inch, heavily illustrated 16 page, soft cover magazine is number 41.
It covers the events in the capital of Third Reich Germany from 14 through 20 October 1941.

Want to know the phone number of Adolf Hitler or Heinrich Himmler's office? This page will tell you!
That week of 1941 was a very busy one in Berlin and throughout the Reich. In German and Italian, DIE REICHSHAUPTSTADT explained what was to be seen and done in Berlin, opening hours, admissions and transportation. Local advertisers like cabarets, restaurants, cigar shops, theaters, the Opera, jewelers, etc., did their best to attract tourists through print advertising.
The final page of the booklet is a 8 x 16 inch fold-out map of central Berlin from the
Olympic Stadium to Alexanderplatz, including famous sights such as the Brandenburg Gate,
Neue Wache, Humboldt University, the Royal Palace and the Berlin Dom where Hermann Göring married actress Emmy Sonnemann in 1935 with Adolf Hitler as Best Man.
Of course there are long lists of addresses and phone numbers for embassies, legations, consulates, German ministries, official offices, NSDAP offices, places where one could watch TV, etc.
An absolutely priceless guide to Berlin for historians, collectors, researchers, authors, etc. The open side of this booklet has been punched for filing in a German Ordner or office binding system, but the holes do virtually no damage to either the graphics or the text content of the 70 year old brochure.
