Kameraden wir singen! (Comrades we sing!) is a Liederheft des Gaues Franken, a rare Third Reich songbook put together and published by the Propagandaamt (Publicity Department) of Gau Franken and printed in Nürnberg. It contains 74 songs from the early ‘battle days’ of the Nazi Movement, soldier marching songs, sweetheart songs, anti-Jewish songs, and few German folk songs.

According to the introduction by Gauleiter Karl Holz inside the front cover, “some of the songs might seem a bit trite, but the majority are powerful and soldierly”. Holz encourages his comrades to sing these songs often and loud as that is the German way to express “our yearning, our love and our courage”. Note that Gauleiter Holz ends his introduction to “My dear comrades” with Heil Hitler!

Kameraden wir singen! Liederheft des Gaues Franken
Karl Holz (shown in a reference photo above) was both the Nazi Defense Commissioner of Gau Franken, and the Gauleiter of NSDAP Gau Franken that succeeded anti-Semitic publisher Julius Streicher as Gauleiter. Holz was also the Editor-in-Chief of Der Stürmer, Julius Streicher's extremely anti-Semitic weekly Nazi newspaper.

This 4-1/8 x 5-3/4 inch, 64-page softcover Liederheft des Gaues Franken is fully indexed on the last two pages. The songbook is undated, but several songs note the dates on which they were written. Kameraden wir singen! is rare, 100% original to the Third Reich and this example is in very nice condition without odor.
