This example of an original Nazi Feuerschutzpolizei helmet is just about the way the vet brought it home, in very nice used condition except for the missing chin strap and a bit of stitching on the liner.

This is a nice original example of a genuine steel (NOT light-weight aluminum) Third Reich Feuerschutzpolizei or Fire Protection Police helmet with its original lining, including the "arrowhead" tabs for the optional leather neck guard (not included). The Feuerschutzpolizei was a firefighter unit, a branch of the Ordnungspolizei (Orpo, the uniformed police force of Nazi Germany).

The liner leather is quite supple and strong and there is a brown 'shoelace' drawstring at the top. The leather chin strap has been missing for a long time except for the two pieces of it that are still attached, one on each side of the liner. The stitching at the back of the liner is gone so those ends of the liner are not connected. This small defect could easily be corrected by resewing it by hand using the original needle holes in the leather.

Inside the left flare of the helmet, one inch back of the drop, there is a one inch logo with a deer in the center stamped into the steel. Around the deer it says Vorschriftsmäßig gem. Anordnung d. MdJ.v.3.5.1934 meaning it was made in accordance with the pertinent law of 3 May 1934.

This black STEEL Fire Protection Police helmet was purchased by us directly from the estate of the American veteran who brought it back to the United States after World War II, and it has never been to a MAX Show!

This helmet was shipped from the German manufacturer just the way you see it, except for its nominal in-service wear and tear. It has over 95% of its original paint as well as its original silver bordered police shield decal on the left and red Nazi shield decal on the right. The decals are about 90% complete.
