This lot consists of two different 1939 issues of premier Nazi car, truck and plane magazine MOTOR und SPORT (Motors and Sports). The illustrated weekly covered all subjects related to power sports. These are Editions A of 14 May 1939 (Issue 25) and 18 June 1939 (Issue 25) with a total of 120 very heavily illustrated pages.

These rare automotive magazines contain heavily illustrated articles on advances in Nazi race cars, Hamburg motorcycle race winners, the Grand Prix of Tripolis, developments in military airplane speed, the new Zündapp DB200 motorcycle, the Olympic sailplane Meise (includes a photo of Hanna Reitsch standing next to her Sperber-Junior sailplane with swastika tail markings), the need for the growing number of car owners to be careful and considerate in traffic, Höhenstraßen car race in Vienna (left), gas generators, what to do when having car trouble on the Reichsautobahn, racing records, upcoming car races (Le Mans, Indianapolis) and travel within Germany and abroad.

These 9-1/8 x 12 inch magazines were published at Pössneck in eastern Germany and carried all the latest news about motors, vehicles, aircraft, and their uses around the world, but concentrating of course, on Germany.

Both issues of MOTOR und SPORT for sale on this USMBOOKS web page have covers that feature Standard Oil products. The German name for Standard Oil Company in Germany was Deutsch-Amerikanische Petroleum Gesellschaft, DAPG or German-American Gasoline Company.
There are automotive related questions by readers and a great deal of advertising for automotive related products by Sekurit, Semperit, Continental tires, and manufacturers of motorcycle seats, car lights, license plate protectors, car horns, batteries, after-market cigarette lighters, car polish, pre-fab garages, portable radios, travel trailers and campers, etc. There are also ads by cities, small towns and health resorts, hotels and guest houses and even for a used Bugatti!
These two rare 85+ year old Third Reich German magazines are complete and in very good condition. No writing, no odor.
